Product Guarantee
What it covers
The Yoto Product Guarantee provides repair or replacement coverage for eligible Yoto products that develop faults due to defective materials or workmanship when used as intended. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this guarantee.
General product guarantee
The General Product Guarantee covers the repair or replacement (at Yoto's discretion) of your Yoto product within 24 months of the original purchase date if:
- The product has been used as intended; and
- The fault is caused by defective materials or workmanship.
This guarantee does not cover memory storage defects, which are covered separately under the Memory Storage Product Guarantee below.
Memory storage product guarantee
The Memory Storage Product Guarantee covers the repair or replacement (at Yoto's discretion) of your Yoto product within 48 months of the original purchase date if:
- The product has been used as intended; and
- The fault relates specifically to memory storage, including "SD Fail" errors.
Repairs and replacements
Where a repair or replacement is approved:
- Yoto may repair the product or replace it with a new or refurbished product.
- Any refurbished replacement product will be fully tested and quality-checked before being supplied.
- If an identical replacement is unavailable, Yoto may offer an alternative product of equal or greater value.
- If you prefer not to accept the alternative product, we will provide a replacement when stock becomes available.
What it doesn’t cover
The Product Guarantee does not cover:
- Use contrary to the Safety Information Manuals available on our Product Safety page.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Accidental damage.
- Damage caused by external events, including transit damage, weather, electrical outages, or power surges.
- Faults resulting from negligent use, misuse, neglect, or careless operation.
- Use of the product contrary to the user manual.
- Use with products, accessories, or parts that are not part of the Yoto family.
- Damage caused by unauthorised repairs, modifications, or alterations.
- Natural degradation of battery performance over time.
- Temporary interruptions, software issues, or operation without error at all times.
- Products that have been resold. The Product Guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
Subject to the above, if you have attempted a repair using Yoto's Repair Guides and the issue remains unresolved, the Product Guarantee may still apply. Whether a repair attempt complies with Yoto's Repair Guides will be determined by Yoto. Please see our Right to Repair page for further information.
Eligibility for the Yoto guarantee
To qualify for coverage under the Product Guarantee:
- The guarantee begins on the date of purchase, or the delivery date if later.
- Proof of purchase or delivery must be provided before any guarantee work can be carried out.
- All guarantee work will be performed by Yoto or an authorised representative.
- Any parts removed during repair become the property of Yoto.
- The repaired product, or any replacement product supplied, remains the property of the consumer.
- Repairs or replacements do not extend the original guarantee period.
- The Product Guarantee applies to domestic use only.
- The Product Guarantee provides benefits in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory consumer rights.
Making a Product Guarantee claim
To make a claim under the Product Guarantee:
- Contact us through our Support page and tell us about the issue you’re experiencing.
- If required, we will ask you to provide your order number.
- If required, we will provide instructions for returning your product.
- You may need access to a printer to print any return label we provide.
- Include any order number, return number, or reference number provided by us with your return.
- Package the product securely to avoid damage during transit.
- Send the parcel using the agreed shipping method.
If it is your responsibility to arrange return shipping, you are responsible for:
- Any shipping costs.
- Appropriate packaging.
- Any insurance you choose to obtain.
- Any loss of or damage to the product during transit.
We recommend retaining proof of postage and tracking information until your claim has been completed.
Once we receive and inspect the product, and provided it qualifies under the Product Guarantee, we will process the approved remedy within 7 working days.
Yoto will cover the cost of shipping repaired or replacement products back to you.
Products purchased from other retailers
If you purchased your Yoto product from Amazon or another retailer and wish to request a refund instead of a repair or replacement, you must contact the original retailer.
Retailers may have different return and refund policies, so please check their terms before returning the product.
